Census 2010
OPEN YOUR DOOR & HELP KEEP OUR DOOR OPEN
Census takers will visit households, which did not mail back a census form, in May, June and early July. The census guides political, economic, and social decisions that end up affecting organizations like APICHA – so if a census taker stops by, please open the door.
About the Visit
- The census taker will show ID and give you an information sheet explaining that your answers are confidential.
- The census taker will not enter your home.
- The census taker will ask 10 questions and record your answer, which should take about 10 minutes.
- If you are not home, a "notice of visit" will be left and you may call the census taker to complete the form over the phone.
- You can call 212-971-8810 schedule the visit.
- For non-English speakers, the census taker will have a flashcard containing a sentence about language needs, written in 50 languages. The census taker will show the flashcard, record the language need, and a census taker, who speaks the language, will contact the resident. Alternatively, you may call the appropriate number below to request a census taker who speaks a particular language.
