STD Screening and HIV Testing
If you know you have put yourself at risk for HIV infection, you need to get tested and know your HIV status.
Two good reasons to have an HIV test:
- If you're not infected, you can learn how to stay that way.
- If you are infected, new treatments can keep you healthy.
At APICHA we offer free, confidential HIV counseling and testing in various API languages.
APICHA offers the following screening
HIV tests:
OraQuick Advance – this is a confidential HIV antibody test that requires collection of a sample through finger stick whole blood or venipuncture whole blood, and provides a result in approximately 20 minutes. A result could be reactive or non reactive. In case of a reactive result, a confirmatory testing will be conducted. It will take up to five business days to receive the confirmatory result.
Orasure – is an oral fluid HIV test that doesn’t require blood or needles. Instead oral fluids are collected to test for HIV antibodies. These processes include both screening and confirmation and take up to 5 days to receive the result.
HIV Testing is available on the following days:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday – 10:30 am -5:30 pm
Wednesday – 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Syphilis Screening:
A blood sample is required and takes up to 5 business days for the result. Appointments can be made simultaneously with HIV testing by calling the Info-line.
