Apicha CHC Opens its Doors for National Health Center Week

To kick off National Health Center week this year, Apicha Community Health Center invited members of the community to an open house Monday, August 14, 2017. In addition to providing a range of health services to our patients, we also wanted to welcome other folks to see what Apicha CHC has to offer.

During our two-hour open house, individuals from the health department, other federally qualified health centers, and private organizations stopped by. Guests were ushered through out first floor clinic, where they mingled with staff and muched on snacks and beverages. Apicha CHC staff members also took guests on a tour of the building, and checked out both our clinics, pharmacy, and private offices used for our support services.

Apicha CHC cut the ribbon on our recently expanded clinic space in June of this year -- it offers patients with an additional check-in desk and more than doubles the number of exam rooms and counseling rooms at the center. These additions allow Apicha CHC to serve even more people who live in Lower Manhattan, and its core constituency, including Asians and Pacific Islanders, the LGBTQ community, individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, and many other underserved and vulnerable New Yorkers. The new space includes seven new exam rooms at street level, five private rooms for other services and an on-site pharmacy on the lower level.

NHCW spotlights the health needs in our communities and the shared stake in community health. From August 13-19, Apicha CHC is sponsoring a number of events, including  staff appreciation, and outreach to the neighborhoods we serve throughout the week to showcase what we do; and we invite you to learn more about our unique model of care that creates enduring solutions to the health care needs of our community.
