2024 Health Insurance Enrollment Marketplace is Open

The New York State of Health has opened its enrollment marketplace, a roughly two-month-long period in which families and individuals have the opportunity to apply for health coverage applied in the next year. New Yorkers who enroll after December 15 will still be able to enroll in health insurance as enrollment for Qualified Health Plans will remain open throughout the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Unwind which ends May 2024.
Do I Qualify for Insurance Through New York State?
Although many people are able to sign up for an insurance plan through their job, that is not always an option. However, you can get affordable coverage through what is called ‘the marketplace.'
"Today, one in every three New Yorkers is enrolled in health coverage through the Marketplace.”
To Enroll, you must meet the following requirements:
Must live in New York State
Must be a US citizen, national, or lawfully present immigrant (Different immigration rules may apply if you are eligible for Child Health Plus or NYS Medicaid or the Essential Plan based on your income)
Cannot be currently incarcerated (Different rules may apply if you are eligible for Medicaid based on your income)
Cannot be applying for coverage of nursing home care or care provided in a Residential Treatment Facility for Children and Youth, Developmental Center, or Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled
Before signing up for a plan, you can get a quote based on the type of plan that you need and compare pricing. If you already have insurance through the marketplace, you will need to re-enroll each year. This is necessary to keep your contact information up to date. Be sure to re-enroll within the designated timeframe.
