Apicha Community Health Center Announces Expansion with a Clinic in Jackson Heights, Queens
Apicha Community Health Center is scheduled to open a new location in the Jackson Heights neighborhood in Queens at the end of 2021. Originally slated to open in 2020, the project was delayed due to pandemic restrictions and shortages. The center, originally named Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS, was founded in 1989 to address HIV/AIDS-related needs of Asians and Pacific Islanders in New York City. In 2009, after two decades of HIV-focused practice, it expanded to include general primary care services. In 2012, Apicha became a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC-LA) and in August 2015, became a full-fledged Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
